THATT Surgical Technology Program
The certificate program in Surgical Technology is designed to provide the knowledge base and technical skills required to seek entry level employment in the discipline. Surgical technologists in the field work under the supervision of physicians and surgical nurses and are responsible for monitoring, maintaining and enforcing the sterile field through adherence to aseptic techniques by all pre-operative, surgical, and post-operative personnel. With this end in mind, this program provides study in instrument and equipment sterilization and handling during both general and specific procedures, patient and team scrubbing, management of surgical supplies, wound exposure and closure, maintenance of hemostasis, and surgical computer and robotics operation and monitoring.
