Electrician Apprenticeship Program

In today’s world, electrician apprenticeships are more important than ever. Modern society depends on reliable electrical infrastructure to power homes, hospitals, businesses, and emerging technologies. As energy systems evolve to include smart grids, renewable energy, and advanced automation, the demand for highly trained electricians continues to grow.

Term of Apprenticeship

The term of the apprenticeship is 4 years with an OJL attainment of 8000 hours, supplemented by the minimum required 576 hours of related instruction.

Term Ratio of Apprentices to Journey Workers

Apprentices shall be paid a progressively increasing schedule of wages based on either a percentage or a dollar amount of the current hourly journey worker wage rate

The apprentice to journey worker ratio is: 1 Apprentice(s) to 1 Journey worker.

Probationary Period

Every applicant selected for apprenticeship will serve a probationary period of 2000 hours.

Selection Procedures

Texas Health and Trade Technical Institute will comply with the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures, including the requirements to evaluate the impact of the selection procedure on race, sex, and ethnic groups and, if any selection procedure results in an adverse impact against one of those groups, demonstrating that the procedure is job related and consistent with business necessity; be uniformly and consistently applied to all applicants and apprentices within each selection procedure utilized; comply with title I of the ADA and the EEOC’s implementing regulations at part 1630, which includes that procedures must not screen out or tend to screen out individual(s) with disabilities unless the selection criteria is job related and consistent with business necessity; and be facially neutral in terms of any protected category under part 30.

Texas Health and Trade Technical Institute will follow standard organizational procedures for filling an open position from outside the company. Once an application is received and the applicant is determined qualified, the sponsor will interview the candidate and forward its recommendations to management, who will make the final selection based upon the occupational requirements and the needs of the organization.
